As promised, I’m giving you all a sneak peek of my current writing project. It’s still a bit rough since I’m still working on the first draft. Enjoy!
Lyla was frozen, staring as the tentacles rose from the water’s surface. Others were running every which way, either to fight the creature in the water or to hide from it. Dragons were roaring and whining in the distance. Even they could sense the danger.
“Move! Come on, move!” Lyla thought to herself. Her body would not obey her mental commands. The tentacles were about five feet above the sails of their ship now. People were screaming. Some tentacles started to swing at any and everything that was in their path while the others wrapped themselves around the body of the ship. Still, Lyla could not move.
“I’m going to die. I don’t want to die!” Tears flooded her eyes. Lyla prayed for a swift death and cursed her legs for failing her.
She heard shouting, but it was too distorted for her to understand. It didn’t matter though; she was resigned to her fate. The shouting got louder and more frantic as a single tentacle made its way in front of her. “Oh gods!”
