Fall has been here for about a month and I’m living for it. I’m living for the pumpkin spice everything, crisp air and the comfy sweaters. I’m looking forward to an excuse to wear a costume or even multiple costumes.
I’m also looking forward to some of my favorite shows coming back. Unfortunately, some of the shows may come back a bit later because of COVID-19. Luckily, some of the shows I’m listing today have multiple seasons to rewatch or are finished, which makes it easier to wait for other shows to come back.
So, here is my list of spooky season shows.

Legacies (Two Seasons, unfinished)
The third show in the Vampire Diaries universe, Legacies follows the life of Hope Michaelson -daughter of Claus Michaelson and Hayley Marshal- as she navigates friendships, romance and school. Being a werewolf, witch and vampire tribrid can be hard on anyone, let alone a teenager with a traumatic past, but she does her best with the help of the school’s headmaster Dr. Saltzman.
Weird things start to happen when Landon Kirby and his foster brother Rafael start attending the school. Monsters start coming after Landon and different objects and they have to find out who is behind it and why. What sinister plan is at play here and how can they stop it?
I really like this show so far because it reminds me of buffy and the characters seem to act their age. There is a good amount of angst, but there is also a good amount of comedy and relatable life lessons to balance it out. I’m really excited about season three. I want to see how they expand upon rippers -vampires with a predisposition to being addicted to human blood and have little self-control around it- and how M.C. handles being one.

The Originals (Five Seasons, Finished)
The second show in the Vampire Diaries universe, this show follows the journey of Claus Michaelson and his siblings as they return to their home in New Orleans. When they return, they see an old friend, Marcel Gerard has taken over. If being dethroned before they even returned home wasn’t enough, but Claus finds out that he had gotten Hayley Marshal -a werewolf he’d had a one-night stand- pregnant and the witch community is trying to kill their child. They must navigate the Michaelsons past traumas, power struggles between the vampires, werewolves, and witches, tumultuous romances and New Orleans.
I liked this series because it delves into the traumas of the Michaelson family and follows Claus’s road to redemption. I also like that there was a character that was studying psychology (Cammy). Cammy would call Claus out on his toxic habits and genuinely try to help him become a better person. It seems that the writers did some research on trauma, abuse and how they affect people. Another thing that I like about this series is that it’s short, only five seasons long as opposed to Vampire Diaries, which was eight seasons long and became very convoluted. You don’t really need to watch Vampire Diaries to watch this series, but it would help to know how certain events from Vampire Diaries affects what the characters are going through in The Originals.

Vampire Diaries (Eight Seasons, Finished)
This show follows Elena Gilbert and her friends as they navigate high school and relationships. Elena and her brother Jeremy live with their aunt after their parents died in a car accident (drove off a bridge into a lake). Elena was the only survivor of that accident.
As she starts a new year of High school, she notices a new student, Stepan Salvatore. He is smart, quirky, mysterious and a vampire. Their love will bring lots of chaos and drama to the town, which is great for us viewers ha-ha.
I liked this show because it was just the right amount of angst and humor, especially with Damon. It did seem to get very convoluted, and major character deaths stopped feeling major because they’ve brought people back so many times. You should still give this show a try before going into the other spin offs because they do reference certain events and characters from Vampire Diaries.
And this is the end of my list of shows for now. Have you watched any of these shows? If so, how did you like them? What shows are you anticipating for the spooky season? Tell me down in the comments.
I love the vampire diaries! I have not finished it but it is a great show!

I liked the first few seasons. I just think it should have ended sooner, especially since they already had spinoffs in the works.
